Method to extend the life of stamping dies

1. basic structure

Punching frame, rigid frame structure and foundation isolation belt can decompose the impact force in the stamping process. The installation of a high humidity isolation belt around the foundation of the punching machine can greatly prolong the service life of the equipment compared with the direct punching machine fixed on the ground. The use of the foundation can maintain the level of the press, and the levelness affects the life of the press and die. The whole stamping machine is composed of the upper bolt, the upper crossbeam, the bed and the column. Now the new type of stamping machine body and column design more high and thick, compared to the previous press of the small bed, thin frame is more difficult to deformation.

Movement of 2. slider

Another key to prolong the die life and improve the quality of the workpiece is to minimize the eccentricity of the slider.  Generally speaking, the press should be designed to control the stamping action by controlling the movement of the slider.

Most of the stamping machines only rely on the guide rail to control the vertical movement of the slider. The guide rail not only controls the movement of the driving wheel, but also the force produced by the bearing mechanism. The slide must be replaced regularly, but if you install a guide sleeve, it will extend the life of the slider and guide rail.

The slider with the guide sleeve absorbs the lateral force generated by the eccentric wheel and decomposes it. In the double guiding stroke, the function of the guide is to guide the reaction force of the slider, so we must make full use of all the length of the guide rail, so that the slider is fully oriented throughout the journey. The combination of the guide sleeve and the guide rail is 1 times larger than the guide area which is only guided by the guide rail.

Using a guide sleeve plus lubricating oil (not Zhi Runhua), the gap between the rails (0.0015 inches) is smaller than the non guide sleeve (0.008-0.015 inches). The use of small clearance guidance can accurately control the movement of the slider, although this structure is higher than the initial cost of the non guide sleeve, but it can extend the life of the mold 30%.

The impact force produced by the motion of 3. link rod

Another factor that affects the die life is the impact force when the blanking or blanking force is large. When the cutting edge is sheared to 20%-30% of the sheet thickness, the sheet begins to fracture and releases energy, which makes the slide block down at high speed. The sudden increase of the slider speed at the end of the stroke will have a huge impact on the press and die, and the speed of the slider at the fracture point of the material is directly related to the generated reaction force.

To reduce this impact, the speed of the slider at the end of the stroke is reduced to 40% of the crank press by using a drive link at the same production rhythm. The contact speed and impact force of the slider to the die will also be reduced to 60% of the crank press. This decrease in speed means that the impact of the upper and lower dies is reduced, thus prolonging the service life of the die.

Because the speed of the slider is reduced, the working time will be prolonged. Longer pressing time is beneficial, especially in forming, low speed pressing time can ensure stamping precision and improve workpiece quality.
